72 Year Old Frenchman Crosses Atlantic in Barrel

72 year old Jean-Jacques Savin from France spent 122 days crossing the Atlantic ocean in a barrel-shaped capsule. He departed from the Canary Islands west of Africa on Dec 26 and arrived in the Caribbean in April. The crossing was completed using only currents and winds to move him along. The barrel-shaped vessel is 3 meters long and 2.1 meters wide, and is resin coated and heavily reinforced to resist waves and potential animal attacks.
