World's Largest 3D Printer to Print Recyclable Yacht Molds

Saber Yachts and Hinckley Yachts are partnering with the University of Maine in Orono to install the world’s largest 3D printer. The printer will use wood flour mixed with plastic to create recyclable molds for yacht parts. The molds can be recycled into new molds, which will allow boat manufacturers to own tons of mold making material and only need to pay for 3D print time, which is comparable to the cost of current CNC machine time cost. The expected lifespan of a mold is around 200 parts.
